Deleting your account is not an option which Facebook readily offers. The handy option on your account allows you to deactivate your account which is not the same as deleting it. Deactivating an account makes it inaccessible to other Facebook users but your information remains on Facebook. The account can always be reactivated. A deleted account is irreversibly removed from Facebook and cannot be restored.
