Google Jobs: Work as an Internet Assessor (Home Based)
Nooglers in the 2013 movie The Internship |
An Internet Assessor is a person who is employed by a search engine to evaluate web search results. Internet Assessors are also known as Search Engine Evaluators or Raters. The internet assessor's job is to check the results of a web search for relevance and appropriateness to the search term. It is a home-based/work-at-home job and the rater chooses his or her own work hours.
How Does It Work?
The Internet Assessor or Rater or Evaluator will be given a search query such as "Cars" and a list of possible search results. He or she is then expected to visit each and every one of the links provided in the possible search results. The rater will assess the web pages they link to for correctness to the search query.
You will be asked to rate the search results based on certain criteria which will be explained during the application. These ratings may include remarks like Appropriate, Useful, Excellent, Good, Poor or Bad.
How Do You Become an Internet Assessor?
The recruiting companies are looking for university students, home-based workers (e.g. work-at-home moms) and just about any individual looking for a part-time job. These companies include Leapforce and Lionbridge. The links to their respective recruitment web pages are given below. While they do not mention which search engine they are recruiting for, you will find out during the registration process that it is Google you will be working for.
The applicant should be able to meet certain requirements which are listed below. He or she must then pass a rigorous online examination before being accepted. Usually, you will be asked to complete a Pre-Test Screener to give you an insight on the nature of the work and to determine if you are qualified to take the examination.
Failing the Pre-Test Screener may mean that you will not be invited to take the online examination. This online exam consists of theoretical and practical questions and will be difficult. If you fail this exam, you will not be permitted to take it again. You may also be required to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement at some stage during your application process.
Note that you are not required to pay any fees or buy any material/package to apply to join this program.
