This procedure is similar in both Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and 3.5

- Click on "Options" (or press O while the menu is displayed) and select the "Privacy" tab from the new window that appears.
- On Firefox 3.5, you will see that this page begins with History. Set the option beside "Firefox will:" to "Use custom settings for history". This will display the custom options for handling your browsing history. On Firefox 3.0, you will see the custom options as soon as you click on the Privacy tab.
- On Firefox 3.0, check the box beside "Always clear my private data when Firefox closes". On Firefox 3.5, this option is "Clear history when Firefox closes".
- Click on the "Settings" button beside the above option to configure what data should be deleted. This will open a new and small window. In this window, check each option that you want to be deleted when you close Firefox. Click OK to save.
Delete Only Websites Visited

- On Firefox 3.5, in addition to the above procedures, you may also use the "Forget This Site" feature. When you right-click on the record you would like to delete, choose "Forget About This Site" from the dialog box. This option will delete all history such as your visit record, cookies, saved passwords, download history, and so on for that website only.

Prevent Browsing History from Being Stored
- Mozilla Firefox comes with a feature called Private Browsing. When you surf the internet using this mode, every record of your browsing is deleted once you close the window. This allows you to browse the web without having the websites you visit or downloads from being recorded. Cookies from the visited websites are also deleted.
- To open a Private Browsing window, click on Tools and select "Start Private Browsing. Alternatively, you can press Control + Shift + P. (To exit Private Browsing following the same procedure and select "Stop Private Browsing").
- You can tell you are using the Private Browsing mode by the title "(Private Browsing)" displayed at the top of the browser window.
- Even though this mode deletes the record of your download, however, the downloaded files and any bookmarks you create are preserved.
